All these three record-breaking video games have been developed by companies established in Barcelona, where the gaming industry is booming. What’s more, Catalonia ranks 2nd in Europe for job creation in the videogame sector.

King, leading the video game industry from Barcelona
King is one of the many video game companies that have opted for Catalonia as a European hub. Developer of the world-famous Candy Crush game, the Swedish company recently opened its new headquarters in Barcelona and expects to keep growing in both business and employees.

Japan’s investment projects in Catalonia, doubled over the last five years
Between 2014 and 2018, 52 investment projects of Japanese companies have been recorded in Catalonia, which represent an investment of 930 million euros and the creation of 4,100 jobs.

Smart city companies in Catalonia grew by 62%
A recent study shows that the smart city sector in Catalonia is made up of 438 companies, with a workforce of 45,046 people. In relation to 2016, the number of companies has increased by 62%, and the collective turnover by 39%.
